The E-Tech S 160 Mono is a highly reliable electric boiler designed for wall-mounted installation by manufacturer ACV.
Why choose an electric boiler?
With resources of gas and oil expected to run out within the next 40 years, electricity could be the best solution for home heating. By installing an electric heating system, you’ll benefit from no risks of a carbon monoxide leak, zero emissions, flexible installation (no need for a flue), fewer moving parts which reduces the risk of a breakdown and there’s no need for an annual service.
Why is the efficiency different to gas?
You’ll notice that electric boilers are often labelled with a 99-100% efficiency rating, however the ErP rating is a D, which doesn’t quite look right when you see that gas and oil boilers rarely exceed a 93% efficiency rating yet earn an ErP A rating.
Electric boilers feature a high efficiency rating thanks to little to no energy being lost during operation. Meanwhile, a gas or oil unit with 93% efficiency is wasting 7% of the fuel it uses so for every £1 spent on heating your home, 7p is lost.
The ErP is lower on an electric boiler for a couple of reasons, firstly electricity is expensive (roughly 13.19p/kWh for a standard electricity tariff and around 3.48p/kWh for gas) and secondly, electricity is considered a carbon intensive fuel. The emissions of natural gas production, before being delivered to the home, is 0.216kg of CO2 per kWh. Meanwhile, emissions from electricity generation is 0.519 kg of CO2 per kWh, that’s more than double the emissions from natural gas and, as a result, electricity is considered more carbon intensive than natural gas.

Will this boiler save me money?
This boiler can save you money on the initial installation costs, with an electric boiler costing around £1,750 where as a gas boiler typically comes over £2,000. You can make further savings after installation costs due to not having to have an annual service like you do with a gas boiler. As well as the electric boilers featuring less moving parts meaning less likely need for repair costs. Although you will save money in these areas electricity has a high fuel factor which results in increased running costs, you are able to make the fuel factor drop which would see increased ErP rating and costs off running the boiler cheaper this can be done when electricity is generated using renewables such as wind and solar.
How efficient is it?
This boiler has a 37% efficiency rating and ErP D-rating for heat.
Where can this boiler be installed?
This highly reliable electric boiler does not require flues allowing for this unit to be flexible in where it can be placed. As well as it being designed as a compact unit to save you that much needed space in your home. This highly reliable boiler is a floor standing unit.
Are there any alternative options?
With this highly reliable boiler featuring an option off output ratings including an 160kW 240kW and a 380kW you can have peace of mind that there is a boiler in this range to suit you and you’re homes heating demand.
What are the features of this ACV electric boiler?
This highly reliable unit is quiet in operation that can be used as a stand alone water heater, modulating element input, flexible installation options for flow and return connections, primary heating sealed system kit and circulating pump, compact design, integrated controls, internal stainless steel tank, DHW storage, rigid polyurethane foam insulation without CFC projected 70 mm.
How long is the warranty period?
This boiler features and warranty period of 1 year to give you peace of mind that it won’t let you down.
