Intergas vs Worcester Bosch: Comparison & Reviews
Worcester Bosch have built a strong name in the heating industry, becoming one of the most well known brands around. While Intergas might not be as widely recognised, their range of highly efficient boilers are competitively priced.
When it comes to finding a new boiler it might be tempting to go with the more well known manufacturer but could you be saving money and getting just as much for your money with an alternative brand?
To find out, we've put two boiler manufacturers head-to-head: Intergas vs Worcester Bosch.

Let’s start out by getting a sense of what you can expect from these manufacturers.
Intergas boiler reviews
Intergas boilers are often seen as being a reliable choice but aren't as well reviewed as Worcester Bosch boilers.
The biggest compliment paid to Intergas boilers by heating engineers is the innovative 2-in-1 heat exchanger which allows the boiler to generate more heat using less fuel. Plus, Intergas boilers have fewer moving parts which potentially makes them less susceptible to issues.
Where engineers feel there could be improvements is in terms of the installation, which many feel could be simpler. However, the flexible installation options available with Intergas boilers is a massive benefit to homeowners looking to have the boiler installed in a new location.
Worcester boiler reviews
Worcester boilers have been consistently well reviewed by homeowners and installers for a number of years for several reasons:
- Reliability
- Efficiency
- Quality of components
Their latest Greenstar 8000 Life and Style ranges even offer modern design that may even put you off hiding it away into a cupboard.
The only downside from a heating engineer's perspective is that they're not always the most straightforward to service. However, Worcester have responded to this by making internal components of the Greenstar 8000 units accessible from the front, in addition to the unit having removable side panels.

The latest combi boiler from Worcester Bosch is the Worcester 2000, a unit designed to give homeowners a reliable, innovative and efficient boiler at a competitive price.
Perfect for flats and small to medium sized homes, this natural gas boiler is highly efficient, offers high flow rates of 12.3 litres per minute and is Worcester's quietest boiler to date.
Regular boilers
Regular, or heat-only boilers, are best suited to larger homes with a high demand for heating and hot water. Plenty of space is essential as alongside the boiler, a hot water cylinder and expansion tank are both needed as part of the heating system.
Intergas have a single range of regular boilers, the HRE OV range which includes outputs of 18, 23 and 27. Much like other Intergas boilers, these are highly efficient and will help to keep your energy bills and carbon footprint down to a minimum.
Intergas regular boiler range | Output (kW) | Efficiency | Warranty |
---|---|---|---|
HRE OV | 18, 23 & 27 | 93% | 7 Years |
Being covered by a 7 year warranty is a massive benefit of Intergas HRE OV boilers as it will see that you're protected against faults caused by the manufacturing process.
Worcester regular boiler range | Output rating | Efficiency | Warranty |
---|---|---|---|
Greenstar 8000 Life 30 | 30 kW | 94% | |
Greenstar 8000 Life 35 | 35 kW | 94% | |

Greenstar 8000 Life 50 | 50 kW | 94% |

System boilers
A system boiler needs to be part of a heating system that includes a hot water cylinder, which stores hot water. They're similar to regular boilers in that sense but there's no need for any tanks in the loft as they take their water supply straight from the mains, like a combi boiler.
Intergas
Intergas only have a single system boiler range but it includes a range of outputs and they're all covered by a 7 year warranty as standard. This is a longer standard warranty than is available on Worcester system boilers.
Intergas system boiler range | Output | Efficiency |
---|---|---|
HRE SB 18 | 18.7 kW | 93% |
HRE SB 24 | 23.7 kW | 93% |
HRE SB 30 | 27 kW | 93% |
HRE SB 40 | 42.5 kW | 93% |

Intergas vs Worcester Bosch
Efficiency
No matter whether you turn to Intergas or Worcester Bosch for your next boiler, you'll be getting a highly efficient heating system. While some Worcester Bosch ranges achieve the highest efficiency of 94%, it's a close run contest with all of the ranges we've highlighted having a seasonal space heating efficiency rating of at least 92%.
Intergas boilers feature a 2-in-1 aluminium heat exchanger which has 2 integrated copper circuits – one for heating and another for domestic hot water. This means that the hot water can be heated directly rather than indirectly, like other boilers, allowing Intergas boilers to condense 100% of the time.
To help increase the efficiency of their performance, Intergas boilers have an ECO mode which will see the heat exchanger adapt to how the domestic hot water is being used. This is instead of the Comfort function which keeps the heat exchanger warm for longer periods to ensure instant hot water delivery to the tap.
Price
Price is often the deciding factor with any purchase, especially when it's with something like a boiler which is such a long term investment.
A Worcester Bosch boiler could potentially cost double the price of an equivalent Intergas unit and that's before factoring in the installation.
Boiler Manufacturer | Intergas Potential Cost | Worcester Bosch Potential Cost |
---|---|---|
Combi boiler | £625 – £1,210 | £800 – £2,275 |
Regular boiler | £725 – £945 | £730 – £2,300 |
System boiler | £785 – £1,135 | £800 – £2,375 |
The installation costs are in addition to the price of the boiler itself which makes comparing quotes as important as comparing boilers.
Using Boiler Guide, you can get free quotes for a boiler installation from up to 3 heating engineers based in your area. Once you have the quotes, you'll be able to compare them and hire the installer offering the most competitive price.
Warranty
The warranty period shows how much faith the manufacturer has in their product and can help to give you an idea of how many years you'll be able to rely on it to deliver a high level of performance.
Both Intergas and Worcester offer extensive 10 year warranties on some of their boiler ranges. This is a very lengthy warranty period and not many other manufacturers can match or exceed the 10 year coverage offered by these manufacturers.
As well as the length of the warranty, you should also take a look at what's actually covered, which you can find out with our guides:
When comparing boiler ranges, make the warranty a high priority as it will see that you're covered in the event of a fault.
Intergas vs Worcester: The winner
Worcester simply can't compete with Intergas in terms of price so if you have a tight budget to stick to then an Intergas boiler is the clear choice.
And while they might be more budget-friendly, Intergas boilers are highly efficient, have few moving parts which reduces the risk of a fault and, in many cases, are covered by a lengthy warranty.
However, Worcester boilers are valued higher for a reason and the consistently high reviews they receive backup the price tag.
No matter whether you live in a small home with a low demand for heating, a large property with high demand or somewhere inbetween, Worcester offer plenty of choice to help you find a heating system that suits you. And once installed, they can last for as long as 15 years with little maintenance needed during that time – which will help to save you money.
